Ghana Book Drive – Cornell EPO helps Ghana Science Project

In 2008 "Ghana Science Project" built the first public planetarium in Accra, the only digital planetarium in West, East or Central Africa. The planetrium gave a good boost in astronomy education in Ghana. In 2009 the Ghana Science Project acted as the IYA2009 National Node for Ghana and successfully held events throughout the year.

Since it's inaguaration in 2008, the Ghana Planetarium has come a long way serving and educating many students and public. However the lack of resources and funding to improve the Planetarium and its programs has been a hardship. The Directors of the Ghana Planetarium; Dr Jacob O Ashong and Mrs Jane Ashong are dedicated to change Astronomy in Ghana and always seek help towards this cause.

Education & Public Outreach Unit of Cornell University (USA), currently running a book drive to facilitate Ghana Science Project to improve their astronomy outreach efforts. Nancy Schaff, Education & Public Outreach Coordinator is leading the effort from Cornell.
