Astro Library for langitselatan - Indonesia
langitselatan (LS)- Southern Skies - is an astronomy communication and educator media in Indonesia run by young group of astronomy enthusiasts with the vision of getting astronomy in the local media, astronomy education and awareness throughout the country. LS has been working tirelessly over the years to achieve these by conducting star parties, telescope training, teachers training, hands on activities, story telling session, astronomy discussion and talk shows and astro presentation.
While continuing outreach activities and sharing information through the LS website, the group hopes to tackle the lack of astronomy resources in Indonesia. "We realize that there is another problem in astronomy in Indonesia, the lack of fundamental astronomy education in the community" says President of LS; Avivah Yamani, and continues, "there is no astronomy program in schools and astronomy resources in Indonesia are limited and also expensive to get."
To overcome these difficulties, LS plans to build a small library which can be used by LS members, students and the community in general. Through the library project, they hope to increase the reading habits of young students and teachers as well. Extending their plans, LS hopes to take some of the library materials to schools when they visit schools for outreach events, specially in remote areas.

Get involved and Make A Difference!
To achieve their dream of setting up a library to improve astronomy education in Indonesia, Astro Book Drive calls the international community to donate Astronomy reading materials.
What to donate:
- General Astronomy books
- Children' Astronomy books
- Teachers' Astronomy guides
- College level Astronomy text books
- Back issues of Astronomy magazines (within last 5 years)
- Magazine subscriptions (Astronomy, Sky and Telescope, AstronomyNow, etc...)
How to donate:
- Individuals:
As an individual you can make a big difference! You are welcome to donate your surplus books, new books or you could take an extra effort and collect from your friends and community as well.
- Groups:
Institutes, University Departments, Organization, other groups, even websites are welcome to run a book drive for the cause and donate the materials.
Note: All reading materials has to be new or in good condition and in English. Should be shipped directly to Indonesia.
