Tanzania Book Drive – A Beautiful Connection
UNAWE – Tanzania is lead by group of young people who are dedicated to bring the Universe to the local students. Their efforts began during IYA2009 and moving ahead with plenty of programs for children..
As an appreciation to their efforts, Greater Portland Astronomical Society (GPAS) –
Maine. USA will be running a book drive to facilitate UNAWE – Tanzania to improve their astronomy outreach efforts.
GPAS consist of a small group of astronomy enthusiast who conducts regular programs like parking lot star parties and support for Southworth Planetarium. They also do short talks and sometimes have speakers or do lab experiments in physics. GPAS meet at Southworth Planetarium in Portland, Maine.
Since the starting of the book drive, a special connection of friendship being building up between Tanzania and Maine. GPAS has started collecting donation and will keep the drive open till mid-April and ship them over to Tanzania.
